Shirley Rembert was born on April 24, 1949 to Bernice Taylor and Felton Dixon in Sumter, SC. After graduating from Ebenezer High School in 1968. She moved to New York in 1971 where she married her high school sweetheart Henry L Rembert on February 27th. They went on to have 4 children.

Shirley, was one of the strongest women to ever walk this earth and we were blessed to have her as the matriarch of our family. Shirley worked for Verizon where she retired in 1997. Shirley graduated from Hofstra University with a Bachelors in Sociology in 1996. She was a substitute teacher in the Freeport School district for several years. She then went on to complete her Masters in Social Work from Stony Brook University in 2002. After graduating, she pursued her passion in her second career as a Social Worker for the Nassau County Department of Social Services. She worked as a Social Worker in the Adult Protective Services department where she worked until September 2021. And anyone who knew her knew she loved to regale her friends and family with the misadventures of her clients.

Shirley was predeceased by her husband Henry L. Rembert, her mother Bernice Saunders, and her father Felton Dixon. She is survived by her children Katina Ching, Henri M Rembert, Dianella M. Rembert, and Siebhone Montgomery (Coy Montgomery).
