Obituary of Davie Rice

And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away. Revelation 21:4 Davie Rice was born June 2, 1946, in Aliceville, Alabama to parents of Burl and Lydia Rice. Davie was called home to our Lord and Savior on August 12, 2024. He was preceded in death by his father, Burl Rice, mother Lydia Rice, son Anthony J. Barnes, brothers, Payton Rice and Willie Rice, and sisters Ocie B Travis and Mattie Speed.Mr. Rice devoted his life to Christ at a young age as a member at New Canaan Missionary Baptist Church in Aliceville, Alabama under the leadership of Pastor Zollie Horton. As he continued his path while living in New York, he was a dedicated member of Faith Baptist Church and later, Reigning In Life Training Center. Mr. Davie Rice, also known as the Jack of All Trades, began his career with a certificate in Plumbing at Boces Technical Trade Center. He continued his career as a Construction Laborer with Pratt Brothers, INC. Mr. Rice worked with the Pratt Brothers for forty years. In addition, to perfecting various home improvement jobs throughout New York. In November 1969, Mr. Rice met the love of his life, Hattie Mobley. Their union in 1977 blessed them with two wonderful children, Tasha Rice-Hill and David Rice. Mr. Rice was a true outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, bowling, and hunting, and never shied away from a game of spades or dominoes. Most importantly, he loved and cherished time spent with family and friends. Mr. Rice leaves behind a legacy cherished by his beloved wife, Hattie Rice, his daughter Tasha Rice-Hill (Charles), his son David Rice, his brothers Bobby (Trudy), Cleveland, Burl Jr., and Moses (Sharon), and his sisters Sarah and Sallye. He also leaves behind his loving grandchildren: Kevondria Barnes, Tihon Barnes, Khalil Barnes, Aniya Rice, and Tiara Hill. He is survived by his great-grandchildren, Javiuan, Kimora, and Josiah Barnes. In addition, to a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
